Guide

Run your first comparison in 60 seconds

PastFi shows how the same money would have grown across real estate and stocks — all on one screen. Four steps is all it takes.

01

Set up a scenario

Pick your starting amount, time horizon, and which assets to compare — one on its own or several side by side (stocks by ticker, real estate by region). Rename any asset card so lines stay easy to tell apart.

02

Tune the assumptions

Every card comes pre-filled with sensible defaults — returns, fees, mortgage rate, extra payments. Keep a card linked to the global inputs, or switch it to Override to give that one asset its own assumptions. Nothing is hidden.

03

Read the comparison

See every asset's trajectory on one chart. Scrub the timeline slider for month-by-month balances, and open a card's Summary or Detail tab for the numbers behind the line. Change an input and a Re-simulate prompt appears, so results never drift out of sync.

04

Verify the basis

Trace where every number comes from — the underlying data and equations live in Methodology and Data Sources.
